Continue your sailing journey with our Level 2 course! Designed for those who have completed Level 1, this course focuses on advanced techniques for sailing in moderate wind and wave conditions. Refine your boat handling skills, boost your confidence in more challenging conditions, and master advanced maneuvers.

This course builds upon the foundational skills acquired in Dinghy Level 1 and introduces more advanced techniques for sailing in moderate wind and wave conditions. Participants will refine their boat handling skills, gain confidence in challenging conditions, and demonstrate proficiency in advanced maneuvers.

Planing in Moderate Conditions: Sail a dinghy in moderate wind and wave conditions, achieving planing and maintaining control.

Heel Control on a Run: Maintain a consistent angle of heel while running downwind, without relying on body movement. Trim the spinnaker correctly (if applicable) to optimize performance.

Reaching with Stability: Sail on a reach, maintaining a constant and balanced angle of heel for optimal boat speed and control.

Trapeze and Hiking Techniques: Use the trapeze and hike smoothly to stabilize the boat and enhance performance in stronger winds.

Stopping and Reversing: Stop the boat, reverse for two boat lengths, and resume sailing on a pre-determined tack.

Tacking with Consistency: Perform consistent tacks, replicating the same trim and heel on each maneuver for maximum efficiency.

Gybing with Spinnaker (Optional): Execute controlled gybes from reach to reach, managing the spinnaker (if applicable) throughout the maneuver.

Beating Within a Corridor: Sail upwind (beat) within a defined corridor, demonstrating effective windward sailing techniques.

Knot Tying and Rope Maintenance: Tie a bowline knot and properly heat seal rope ends to prevent fraying.

Capsize Recovery (Inverted): Recover an inverted dinghy, safely returning it to an upright position and resuming sailing.

Trapeze Harness Release: Release a trapeze harness safely in the event of a capsize or emergency.

Reducing Sail Afloat: Reef or reduce sail area while afloat to adapt to changing wind conditions.

Weather Forecast Interpretation: Read and interpret weather forecasts to make informed decisions about sailing conditions.

Marine Awareness and Safety: Points of sailing, buoyage and navigation markers, lee shores and their dangers, tides and their effects on sailing, overhead power lines, anchors, and boat maintenance.
